Review of Beauty's Alien Beast by Aria Starling

I usually don't read sci-fi books as they don't tend to hold my interest as paranormal ones do, but this book intrigued me, and it's a beauty and the beast retelling which happens to be one of my favourite films and book retellings sold the book!

I am so glad I gave this book a chance because I LOVED it.

I liked that twist on the original tale by setting it in space and adding the cyborg element rather than a monstrous beast (or in most books I usually read a wolf-shifter-type creature). I also liked how the heroine of the story wasn't a pushover either. She had no fear of general beast, even if she was slightly intimidated by him.

I loved the chemistry between Elle and the general. The banter and the sweet moments.

I also loved the side characters. The prince, the princess, and the general's crew mates.

The pacing was quick and kept my attention, so much so that I finish it in a little over a day.

Because the book is quite short, things happened and progressed quickly, but I don't think it took away from the story at all and it didn't really feel rushed either.

The pull the characters had to one another was instant, despite the spat they had in the beginning.

I would have liked the apology and hatred of one another to have lasted a little longer to drag out the tension and romance a little more, but still, I loved it and it didn't feel forced.

I would certainly pick up another book by this author and have added the 1st in this series to my TBR list.

Definitely recommend this book!
