Review of Kingdom of Forgotten Curses by A.F. Kaufer

Those who know me know how much I love Beauty and the Beast and the retellings of the tale.

I loved the idea of this book. The retelling of Beauty and the Beast mixed with Dracula, what's not to love? I was not disappointed.

This enemies-to-lovers tale just kept giving, full of twists and turns.

I enjoyed how A.F Kaufer blended the stories together and gave a brief background to the characters.

The overall plot is fast-paced and keeps you wanting to read, sucking you into the story. I was up late several nights while reading through this determined to find out what happened next.

The scenes and world were well-detailed and imaginative with plenty of description to build a clear picture in your head.

I wasn't too sure about Bells as a character to start with, and there were a few instances where I didn't understand why she was angry with Dracke and her indecisiveness left me frustrated. Some of these parts seemed to just drag out the story longer than was necessary. Same with Bells and one of her sisters. They would be civil one moment and then hate each other again the next for what seemed like no reason.

Dracke on the other hand I adored. He had some of my favourite lines in the book and I was constantly routing for him.

"While a thousand armies could not keep me from you, your word is all it would take."

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and liked the idea of combining the two tales, which was done wonderfully and would happily pick up more by this author.

If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers, retellings, fated mates, slow-burn with spice, and mistaken identities, then you should pick up a copy of this book.
